M&E Advisor

Tenture: 1st November – 28th February 2023

Location: 1.5 days/week (we are flexible) Berlin, Germany or online works as well Responsible to: Programme Director Benefits: €26,000 budget for this role

Role Overview:

Currently we are about to start two projects in NE Syria where we are supporting financial and hands on grassroots initiatives.

We are now seeking an experienced M&E Advisor, who can oversee Monitoring and Evaluation strategy which are aligned towards localisation.

This is a three in one role - the primary role of this post is to develop M&E strategy, train the capacity of the teams and to oversee the project and integrate learnings throughout the organisation. It’s your job to deliver workable ideas and then turn it into a reality.

You will be expected to delegate tasks – we will manage two (part time) M&E assistants and ensure with a high attention to detail programme reports.

Responsibilities:

1. Reviewing, developing M&E project plan. Briefing team and setting up Milestones. The projects will start around the beginning of November. If possible, we would like you to speak to the team and finalize the M&E plan by 31stOctober 2021.This includes reviewing the project proposals, and the log-frames. Project plan deliverables and move it to an online system. The initiatives would start 15th November.

2. Develop tools and guidelines for staff and local initiatives. Creating workflow and guidelines for M&E Tools. The RealtimeAid approach to data is integrated for example with grievance procedures, or how to ensure needs-based decision making. The role would require ensuring a coherent overview of all tools, and creating any guidelines or policies where none exist (many do exists and could be updated/built-on or simply integrated) -for example for the use of social media or how to set-up the survey tools for kobo toolbox, checklist for the field team, all data is captured online via the FrontlineAid platform (which is a WebApp which we are iterating through the project).

3. Manage the M&E team and join Slack channel for check in with other team members.

4. Finalise all reports, ensuring quality control, creativity, usage of supporting media and design as per project plan. The Team should be able to produce initial / final reports final, the Advisor would ensure quality controls.

Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:

Essential:

  • ● Hands on, motivated and full of ideas
  • ● Hands off, still motivated but strategic on implementing ideas
  • ● Excellent writing and editing skills: English (fluent) / Strong presentation and communication skills
  • ● Good understanding and experience of online tools
  • ● Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • ● Experience in data analysis & reporting
  • ● IT user & project management skills
  • ● Experience in international development, ideally with a focus on sport, children/youth and refugees
  • ● Experience of working in multi-cultural teams
  • ● Familiarity with child protection issues in a humanitarian context
  • Preferred:

  • ● Experience with IT and remote management
  • ● Experience with the 8+3 Reporting requirements
  • ● Experience in establishing a team, managing staff and volunteers
  • ● Arabic
